Hello,
I could finally give Jupiter my first shot this 2010 apparition, although conditions were all but acceptable.
Rolling clouds and sun rising didn’t allow a RGB capture.
A mediocre seeing has turned into fair when the Sun has rised here, as often happens.
The image has been captured at local 6 a.m. with the Sun 2 degs above the horizon, so the dynamic range was quite poor.

Nothing of special to report but the two interacting WOSs across the SPC and the rising GRS on the right border.

This is the final image closening my October 7, 2009 session and no more will follow from me! Still waiting for a decent session along 2010…
The south-eastern limb is surely dominated by magnificent Janssen crater and majestic Vallis Reitha, but you can also notice how many craters with huge differences in age are spreaded there in a very rough floor. I can literally see a whole generation!
This image might be looking too contrasty, but this is exactly the same view I could admire at the eyepiece.

That’s really all for now, I want to hope my images could have enjoyed yourselves and I could be back soon at work.

Find here a wide panorama across the border which separates Tranquillitatis (containing Cauchy rilles) and Fecunditatis (Taruntius crater) maria.

I couldn’t find a name for the tiny rille you can see to the right of the evident rima Secchi and running almost parallel to rima Messier here visible on the very bottom side of the image.

Does anyone know it?

Find here another intriguing area by geological point of view that can be found in the southermost part of the mare Fecunditatis between Goclenius and Messier craters.
On the left side of the image, you can see the fractured ground typical of seas’ edges. On the right side, you can see a log stretched version of the shadowed sea bringing more in evidence all those smooth irregularities of the ground illuminated by an extremely low sun angle.

In the heart of the night falled on October 7, 2009 I had my LAST chance to take some fine lunar images. From that night on, I had no more opportunities and 8 months are now gone…
During that nice session, I could grab the south-eastern sector starting from this image portraying a very rough ground not so far from south pole.
