Venus
Hi all,
This is my first Venus shot over this morning apparition.
I grabbed Venus when the Sun already raised over the horizon, so the
contrast wasn’t that great.
Hope better result to come.

Hi all,
After 15 very poor nights, I could finally have a new challenge vs. the
God of the War.
A fair seeing together with a good transparency all together (a rare
occurrance here) allowed me to match colors as noticed to the eyepiece.
Please, notice how many hues are depicted there: from the yellowish
airborne dust over Hellas up to the gloomy red of Aetheria. I’m fully
satisfied with this color rendition.
The bright arc running aside on the left of Nodus Alcyonis is odd
indeed. It looks like dust because also visible in the G image. I tend
to exclude an artifact because the contrast there isn’t that huge
(expecially in the G image) and the more contrasted Sinus Gomer falls in
the red flat Aethiopis mare with no similar artifact.
The dark patch in the NPH close to the morning limb I suspect it’s an
artifact.

Questa รจ la mia prima ripresa di Venere durante l’attuale elongazione
occidentale.
Ripresa effettuata col Sole ormai sorto da un pezzo, quindi con poco
contrasto. Seeing abbastanza discreto.

Hi all,
I can now add another slice of the Lunar South Pole to my collection:
the side close to Moretus.

Because of the tall mountains (Leibnitz?) in the background making a
weird appearance to my eyes, my fantasy has worked out this “antarctic”
version:

I’d like to know if someone else is also looking icebergs there…
Comments much appreciated!
More to follow.
Hi all,
Here another image out of Aug. 5 session. Again, poor seeing with some
rare decent flash of steadiness.
The very wide FOV here should be better appreciated together with ground
details.
Single shot image, no mosaic.

Hi all,
I’m now sharing with you some very first lunar shots grabbed on early
August with a new camera and processed throughout a new tecnique. Both
the 2 novelties are well promising indeed!
Basically, the camera is powered with the Sony ExView ICX285 mono sensor
which allows sensitivity as bigger as twice at parity of FL than ICX205
sensor do. The wider pixel size also helps in getting a lower image
scale and a wider FOV, so any short spell of steadyness is better used.
The new processing tecnique consists of a “deconvolved drizzle”
performed under Iris and Astroart softwares. The drizzle is the best way
of upscaling downsampled images and it works great with a factor 2 only.
Once 2X drizzled through the Iris, the final result is deconvolved in
Astroart through the Richardson Lucy algorytm and scaled down to 0.75X +
high pass filter to increase sharpeness.
I learned this tecnique over the last summer when processing binned 2X
deep sky shots grabbed with the same camera.
That means we sometime need to open our minds toward new experiences to
learn more!
I start with this very high sun shot displaying the nice panorama NEward
of Copernicus. Although the image is very wide (3 Mb!), maybe a reduced
view could help in better enjoying Copernicus blankets.
Seeing was mainly poor with some rare decent spells only, so I went to
enhance the mid frequencies much more than high frequencies.

To follow, 2 better shots.
Hi all,
Eons were passed since the last time I could have some acceptable
stability here.
On this morning I could break my deep sky activity to give Mars the very
first try since 2005!
Despite its huge altitude, here it looks like a maddening bean!
Notice the conspicuos NPH with a darkening/weakening over the polar cap.
Nu dust activity noted on this longitude.
Hope I could have…more to follow.
P.S. As a courious coincidence, hunting has opened here on the same day!
